Cat lovers everywhere are very loyal to their favourite cool cat. Some will even argue that their favourite is the only choice for the coolest cat. However, many do agree on the following popular breeds.

This is our top 10 coolest cats list:

1. The Exotic – Believe it or not, this cat was voted THE most popular cat for the last three years. Probably because it kind of looks like a teddy bear and is easy going in nature. I mean who doesn’t love a teddy bear?
2. The Ragdoll – Ragdolls are very popular because they are cuddly and squishy. They come when you call them and love to play games like fetch. They lurrrvee everyone. Awww!
3. The British Shorthair – These little furballs are the descendants of the cats from Ancient Rome and have dense soft coats. They like to hang out with you but not really on you. It’s little surprise that the Cheshire Cat from Lewis Carrolls’ Alice in Wonderland was inspired by none other than this little guy.
4. The Persian – Their fur coats are luxurious but require a lot of attention. They have to be combed daily. Can you say grooming for days? They were also super popular with French nobles back in the day.
5. The Maine Coon – These beautiful cats are similar in squishiness to the Ragdoll with the same loving and fun personality. They are smart and easy to train. They have tufts of fur around their paws with big ears and are huge cats.
6. The American Shorthair – A great cat for your family. They often live longer than 15 years, are very affectionate and like to rub their cheeks across your cheeks and purr.
7. The Scottish Fold – These adorable kitties have ears that are permanently folded thanks to a mutation in their DNA. They are quick to adapt to their family including those with other animals but need a gentle touch as their tails are quite stiff and can cause them pain if you’re too rough. Ouch! Sorry kitty!
8. The Sphynx – Originally from Canada and not the cat for everyone (don’t be haters), these cats are great for people with allergies. They are fun-loving and enjoy playing with their humans as they are total goofballs and love to be the centre of attention.
9. The Abyssinian – Known as the Energizer bunny of all the breeds, these super-intelligent cats won’t sit on your lap but they are incredibly loyal and are one of the oldest breeds.
10. The Devon Rex – These cute felines with their big ears, stubby whiskers and thin bodies like to be around humans all the time. The Devon Rex would not be a good choice for people who aren’t at home much as they are true social butterflies.
